Luxor

Upon arrival in Luxor, the city is often referred to as "the world's largest open-air museum." The excursion usually begins with a visit to the iconic Karnak Temple, one of the world's largest religious complexes. The huge columns, reliefs and sphinxes that dominate the grounds will leave you in awe. Here you will gain insight into the rich history of the pharaohs and the influence of the gods on daily life in ancient Egypt.

After visiting Karnak, it is time to explore the west bank of the Nile, where the Valley of the Kings is located. This is the final resting place of many pharaohs, including the famous Tutankhamun. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the impressive tombs, whose walls are decorated with colorful hieroglyphs and scenes from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

Next on the program is the Temple of Hatshepsut, an imposing monument dedicated to Egypt's only female pharaoh. Built on a steep rock face, the temple is an architectural masterpiece and offers panoramic views over the desert.

During the excursion there is also time for lunch, usually served at a local restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Egyptian dishes. The day ends with a visit to the Colossi of Memnon, two giant statues that stand as guardians of the ancient necropolis.
